Fox Island

Fox Island is a world away from the ordinary. The waters surrounding it are a rich blue green color that reflect the weather and lap upon the shore. The tide change in Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park can vary from 10 feet in twelve hours up to 22 feet. The region has the second highest tidal change in the world, next to the Bay of Fundy on the Atlantic coast of North America.

Wildlife is abundant near Fox Island. Guests cruising to or from the island commonly see Stellar sea lions, otters, whales, Dall's porpoise, and an endless variety of seabirds that include eagles, puffins, cormorants, and mures.

Guest Cabins

Each of our Fox Island Guest Cabins is heated, and includes one queen and one twin-sized bed, as well as a private bathroom with shower. Lighting is powered by solar and wind generators, but there is no telephone, television or radio to interrupt this peaceful getaway.

Sea Kayaking Guides

Paddle the pristine waters surrounding Fox Island on a guided sea kayaking tour. No experience is necessary. Kayaking gear is provided, however we suggest that guests wear layered clothing for their comfort.

Solar Powered Generators

As part of our commitment to preserving this pristine wilderness getaway, Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge and the Fox Island Day Lodge derive the majority of their electrical power from generators powered by the sun. Guests are requested to turn off lights when not in use.
